First Grade Teacher
I grew up in Houston, TX, where I attended J. Frank Dobie High School. I began my college education at Texas A&M University in College Station and transferred to Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.
I currently hold Texas Standard Classroom Teacher Core Subjects (grades PreK-6) and Provisional Elementary Self-Contained (grades 1-8) certificates, a Texas ESL certification, as well as Oklahoma Elementary (K-8) and Early Childhood (PK-3) certificate endorsements. I have also been licensed in the state of Colorado.
I am so excited to be a part of Bonham ISD. This will be my sixth year at Finley-Oates.
Prior to coming to Bonham ISD, I taught third grade for five years at Carleston Elementary in Pearland, TX. In 1997 I moved to Colorado, where I helped start two charter schools in Colorado Springs. There I served as a first, second and third grade teacher for five years. I have also had the privilege of working for an educational publishing company marketing reading materials. Education has always been my passion! I have taught both kindergarten and first grade in Bonham.
I have two daughters who are attending college. One an environmental science major at OSU and the other an English/psychology major at Southeastern OK State University. My biggest baby is my precious pet, dachshund mix, Sadie.
I love reading, especially nonfiction, sewing, scrapbooking and gardening in my spare time. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my family.
