Mary Lou Fox

Finley-Oates Elementary Principal

Hello, I am Mary Lou Fox, Principal of Finley-Oates Elementary School.  I am honored to begin my 30th year with BISD and my 11th year as the principal of the best elementary school in the state of Texas.  I graduated from East Texas State University in 1989, with a Bachelor of Science Degree.  I completed my Master of Education Degree in 2010, at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.  I am certified Elementary Self-Contained with a Specialization in Mathematics.  I hold my Standard Certificate as a School Counselor - Pre-K through 12th grade and Principal - Early Childhood through 12th grade.  Previously, I have taught American History and World Geography at Bonham High School, 6th grade Math at I. W. Evans Intermediate and L.H. Rather Jr. High, served as the School Counselor and the Assistant Principal of Finley-Oates Elementary.  I was honored in June 2015, as Administrator of the Year.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and working in the yard. I am one of three children, with two older brothers.   I am married to my high school sweetheart, Ken.  We have two children Ethan and Kaitlyn.   I have a vested interest in educating students in Bonham.  Bonham is where my parents, brothers, husband, myself, and my children all received our education.  I believe a district our size can offer the best possibilities.  We are large enough to offer the facilities, sports advantages, specialized classes, technology extras, and many other features districts smaller than Bonham cannot offer.  We are small enough to individualize instruction and call students by name.  I enjoy teaching children (and now sometimes grandchildren) of former classmates as well as former students.  I would not want to work or live anyplace else.  I truly bleed purple.

I am very excited about the upcoming school year.  I hope to positively influence all of the students which enter the doors of Finley-Oates Elementary School and motivate them to always try to do their very best.  My wish is for each of them to make new friends, flourish socially and academically, gain confidence that comes from learning, and develop the great potential each child has within.

One of my favorite quotes is by Bessie Anderson Stanley:  To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.  This is to have succeeded.
