I am a 2000 graduate from Bonham High School. After high school, I attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University where I received a Bachelors degree in Elementatry education.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education
- Certification EC - 4, ESL, GT
I have attended Math and Literacy academies in previous years. Every year I attend professional development trainings and workshops to continue to learn new things to implement in my classroom so that my students get the best educational experience possible. Last year I also completed the Science of Reading Academy.
I started teaching in 2007 at FInley – Oates Elementary. This will be my 16th year at Finley-Oates. During my time at Finley-Oates I have been in second grade, it is my absolute favorite grade!! Second grade is a self contained classroom setting so I teach all subjects!
I have always taught at Finley – Oates. I have really enjoyed being at this school! I feel like it is where I belong! I firmly believe I am where I am supposed to be and feel confident that 2nd Grade is the grade for me! Finley – Oates has a great campus motto, “The Fututre Begins With ME!” I hope every student feels imortant and loved in my classroom and at Finley – Oates. It takes a village to prepare our students and Finley-Oates does a fantastic job of helping each other do what is best for our kids!! That is why I became a teacher, I truly believe that every student can reach their potential if we all work hard and create relationships with our students. These kids touch my heart and make getting up each morning easy!
Here is one of my favorite quotes!
I am married to my wonderful husband Jonathan. This November will be our 8th anniversary!! We have a son, Nate who is 16 years old and will be in 11th grade this year. We also have 1 dog at home. Max is a 10 year old minature schnauzer. He is spoiled rotten, loves to play hide and seek and any toy that squeaks!
Believe it or not, I love to cook! However, I am not a fan of having to clean the kitchen afterwards!! I have a pretty good collection of cookbooks at my house, and I am running out of room to put them!! I also love watching the food network chanel. My favorite is the Pioneer Woman (Ree Drummond) and Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives! I can’t wait to plan a trip to Pawhuska, Oklahoma to visit the Pioneer Woman’s Mercantile Shop and restaurant!! Update: I have now visited the Pioneer Woman’s Mercantile Shop and Restaurant! It was everything I had imagined and more, I loved every minute of it!! I can’t wait to go back! I also love going to Beavers Bend. We rent a cabin and just relax. We also like to rent kayaks and go down the river while we are there. Grateful Head pizza is also a must!
